Anonymous asked: whats your eyebrow routine? I want dark, thick eyebrows like yours but I have no idea how to shape them or what products to use????
I didn’t always have eyebrows like this. It took me a long time to grow in my brows to what they are now. I started reshaping and growing in my eyebrows about two years ago or so. I started growing them when I realized how over plucked and short and far apart they were in photos.( I really have no idea what I was thinking looking back, honestly. -_-)They were too far apart, two completely different shapes and far too thin for my face.
Originally when I realized they needed reshaping I started growing in the front of my brows so that they were closer together. I always thought I was plucking them properly, because I was told my brows needed to be plucked like this:
This method just doesn’t work for most people honestly. Unless you have a reallly narrow nose, your brows will end up really far apart. This method will look much more natural:
It took me a while but I finally grew them into (basically) their natural shape. They still need a little work, and there are still places that are sparse and need to be grown out as well.
DISCLAIMER: These are just tips that I use myself, and are based on what I personally like on me, and what I believe works for me and my hair color/ skin tone. You don’t have to do the same things I do, or you might not agree with me, but if You have a routine that works for you that’s awesome. I’m not trying to tell you guys what to do with your appearances ok? Yer all babes.
My hair is naturally black. So my eyebrows are very, very dark as well.
Even though my hair and brows are black in color, I don’t use a black pencil to fill them. In general, black eyebrow pencil will look really, really harsh and unnatural. (but if that’s what you like, go for it. Just personally I don’t like how it looks on me)
I use a neutral toned dark brown brow pencil like these:
(I’m currently using the maybelline one, which I LOVE.I’ve never used any high end brow products. But if you guys have suggestions that’s also be great ok)
I fill them in every day using an eyebrow pencil. Use a very light hand and outline the basic shape. Then brush I through them with a spooley or a brow comb after they’re filled in.
**Follow your natural brow shape**
The only areas I completely fill in are where it’s very sparse or where I’m trying to grow hair. (There are a few places where hair just doesn’t grow properly anymore as a result of over tweezing. so I fill those in too). I use a gel after which disperses some of the product anyway so I don’t need a block of color on top of my eyebrows.
When I’m finished with the pencil, I use a brow gel to set them in place and to make it look more natural.
Sometimes I’ll use a powder or matte eyeshadow the same color as the pencil before I apply the gel. Although more recently I’ve just been using the pencil and gel.
I tweeze my brows whenever I see stray hairs, or when I think they’re losing their shape. (Refer to the diagram I provided above~~)
I also trim my brows every few weeks. Trimming your brows will make it much easier to reshape them. Often times when eyebrow hairs get to long, it can make it hard to actually see the shape of your natural brow. You might end up over plucking because of the over growth/ how long the hairs are can make it look like they aren’t the right shape.
I just comb them upwards with a brow comb, then use cuticle scissors to trim them along your brow line. (Don’t trim them too short!)
Anyway, I hope this helped! I’ll be praying to the Eyebrow Gods that your brow game will be forever strong xoxo
